YVONNE LOVATT
Yoga Teacher and Yoga Therapist at MyTimeYoga

Hello and welcome!

I am Yvonne Lovatt of MyTimeYoga — a Yoga Teacher and Yoga Therapist. I help you to improve your health and well-being through the practice of Yoga and Yoga Therapy. I believe that everybody should have ‘MeTime’ and can benefit from this wonderful practice.

My aim is to help you feel calm and relaxed using all my skills and knowledge of both a Yoga Teacher and Therapist.

Read on to find out a little more about me, what I do, where and how my journey first began, and my qualifications

So, where did it all begin?

It all started around 25 years ago, I had an extremely challenging job as an Area Sales Manager and had achieved top prize on an incentive, I found myself at a beautiful health spa. With plenty of time on my hands which was rare as I had a 2 year old daughter I decided to join a yoga class. I really enjoyed the experience and then soon after found myself at a local class in my hometown of Bradford.

I remember that first class so well, everyone in the room looked ‘so old’, I thought I’d joined the wrong class, the movements that these people were making were incredible, they were so flexible and fit despite being a lot older than myself. I had always done exercise at the gym but found myself struggling with step and aerobics — it was back in the day of the “Green Goddess” and “Mr Motivator”.

After that first class I felt very humble and thought to myself “that if these people could do all of those movements at their age then I was going to stick with yoga”. Yoga has helped me immensely in my journey through life, it’s helped me navigate dark and sad times.

It gave me time for me and helped me navigate my way to a much brighter and happier place, and for this I am forever grateful.

My first teacher, the late Lilian Biggs who I have since found out brought Iyengar Yoga to the UK back in the 1960’s, who trained directly with BKS Iyengar every year and passed on this wonderful knowledge directly to us, her students. I feel truly blessed to have been taught by such an inspirational human being.

I set up my business ‘MyTimeYoga’ in 2014 with a simple idea of “Yoga for All”.

I now live in Bedale, on the edge of the Yorkshire Dales with my husband Steve who is a Holistic Wellness Practitioner.

Our eldest daughter Lorna an Architect and lives down in London and our youngest daughter Ellie is studying Outdoor Education in Ambleside.

We enjoy life with our two Golden Retrievers Kisi and Willow. When not practising yoga I enjoy being outdoors in nature observing the changing of the seasons, walks on the beach, being with family and friends and time pottering in the garden.

My Trainings + Experience

My first yoga training was with British Wheel of Yoga & since then I have trained extensively on numerous other courses with world class teachers. You can see my qualifications here.

As well as teaching yoga in the community, at local nursing homes, for both pupils and teachers at schools, at Swinton Park Estate - “Amazing Hotels - Life Beyond the Lobby”, I have also taught at RAF Leeming, for the Army at Catterick Garrison & worked for Help for Heroes at Phoenix House. Here I taught yoga to the wounded, injured & sick servicemen & women, together with veterans. It was during this time that I felt that there was more to offer, that “Yoga is for All”.

In 2019 I embarked on a 600-Hour Yoga Therapy course with Yoga Campus, I now offer both small group & individual Yoga Therapy sessions. In 2022 in Ibiza I studied SOMA Breath with the founder Niraj Naik, this is such a transformational practice and I would love you to come & experience it with both my husband Steve & myself.

My most recent training was in Ibiza in October 2022 - Flow Dance Meditation, this is a conscious dance programme, a vehicle for embodiment and I am so excited to share this with you.

I have taught twice yearly at YogaFit retreats in Ibiza which is an amazing event, up to 500 people gathered in a most beautiful location to share all things yoga, fitness and wellness. During the pandemic all my classes were via Zoom, I still offer some hybrid classes and now have a library of over 200 videos for you to enjoy at a time to suit you.

I have now been teaching for nearly 9 years & practised yoga for around 25 years. I would love to have this opportunity to be part of your wellness journey. I am insured, First Aid trained and registered with the Complementary and Natural Healthcare Council (CNHC).

Thank you for reading this & if you have any questions at all I would love to hear from you,

Namaste,
